Artists at Play is a Los Angeles-based theatre collective that produces theatrical programming exploring the Asian American experience. Our producing members are:

We each come from different backgrounds in writing, acting, filmmaking, arts administration, and journalism. We came together in 2011 to produce theatre that excites us, and after 9 years of working with each other, we can genuinely say that we’re still friends.
KATHERINE
Like many theatres and arts organizations this year, we found ourselves facing the obstacles of COVID-19, including not being able to gather in person, one of the special and unique elements that make theatre and live performance irreplaceable.
NICHOLAS
The Artists at Play Podcast is our way to continue the work we do, and with a different medium that allows us to go more in depth into the stories that inspire our programming, Asian American history, and how we find ways to connect to them today.

Get ready for enlightening conversations, interviews, and even audio performances of new theatrical works in development.

Various episodes will cover AAP’s inaugural production of Ching Chong Chinaman by Lauren Yee, writer Carlos Bulosan and the Filipinx American history & identity, the play The Chinese Lady by Lloyd Suh and the 149th anniversary of the Los Angeles Chinese Massacre, as well as a new play by Rosie Narasaki.
